We´ve been host this week to an introductory training course for GUE (Global Underwater
About usAs the largest and highest of the 7 islands forming the Canarian archipelago, Tenerife amazes visitors with its incredible landscape. Combine this with all the amenities of a top international tourist destination and you have at your disposal every activity you could wish for including, of course, scuba diving. For activity lovers or those who just want to chill, singles or families, young or old, Tenerife really does have something for everyone. Observe the stars with expert guides in one of the most beautiful places on earth: Mount Teide National Park. Soak up the sun whilst one of the island’s licensed catamarans takes you whale spotting amongst our resident pods of pilot whales. Shop till you drop in historic Santa Cruz, followed by a lunch of tasty tapas.
Below the water the dramatic scenery continues with amazing volcanic rock formations, including basalt walls, fun swim-throughs, caves, black coral and a fantastic variety of marine life. Numerous species of rays enjoy the sandy sea beds where they can bury themselves, whilst the rocky reefs provide a perfect habitat for moray eels and octopus. In the cooler months we regularly see angel sharks and all year regulars include cuttlefish, crabs, damsels, puffers, bream, trumpet fish, parrot fish, shoals of roncadores and turtles. The Atlantic waters offer great visibility averaging around 20m so you shouldn’t miss a thing!
Oxygene Tenerife is a 5* PADI Instructor Development Centre with a truly international feel. Employing Instructors from England, Sweden, Netherlands and Germany we regularly welcome visitors from all these countries and more.
Our facilities comprise an office / shop on the sea front with many useful dive essentials and accessories. The tables outside on the terrace provide an ideal spot for divers to chew the fat and complete their logbooks. When it comes to refreshments, we're spoilt for choice with cafés and restaurants on either side. Downstairs, on the lower ground level is our wet centre, with Bauer compressor, rinse tanks, hot shower, toilet, teaching room, kit storage area, changing area and briefing area. We have 2 RIBs and offer predominantly boat diving, though we run occasional road trips to the more distant sites. We have many sites within 5-25 minutes boat ride to choose from - scenic caves and rock formations, wrecks, plus other sites that are simply abundant with marine life. Most are suitable for divers of all levels of training and experience. Some are suitable for both snorkellers and divers and we are happy to accommodate groups wishing to combine both activities.
Our boat picks up from the local beach just a few yards from the dive centre. This beach is an excellent training site for new or experienced divers – sheltered, shallow and with a gradual sloping sandy entry. Great for night dives too.
