Freediving DahabFreediving is becoming more and more popular. So, what’s so fascinating about this sport? Is it about how deep you can go, pushing your own limits to the extreme, the physical challenge, or the beauty of the underwater world? It’s probably a combination of all of the above, as well as the amazing feeling of being completely relaxed underwater. When you reach that state you’re just a little bit closer to understand the world of the dolphins. It’s far more than just snorkelling. It’s the ability to remain underwater for a long period of time and to dive to depths that someone without training would only be able to do with equipment. As you develop your freediving skills, you’ll find that you get more satisfaction when exploring the underwater world. And it will increase your safety and relaxation when scuba diving too.
Dahab is the place to learn freediving. Here you find the deep waters strait of shore, no boats needed. Since our instructors Lotta Ericson and Linda Paganelli are living in Dahab since a few years it has allowed them to dive daily and to train frequently with many other top freedivers. Both Lotta and Linda are national record holders in several freediving disciplines.
Lotta who is a world famous Swedish freediver, and former world record holder, started working as a freediving instructor in 2004, when she moved to Dahab with her family. Since then she teaches AIDA courses, organizes record attempts, competitions and other freediving events. Linda is an Italian freediver who lives in Dahab since 2002, training and teaching freediving. She started working with Lotta in early 2006 when she also becomes a AIDA instructor. They are now both AIDA MASTER INSTRUCTORS and AIDA JUDGES. AIDA is the International association for the development of Apnea - is a Worldwide Federation for freediving, established in 1992. It manages and oversees the recognition of records, organizes competitions, and sets the standards for freediving education. AIDA certifies freedivers, instructors and judges. |
