About DahabThis pearl of the gulf actually consists of two villages, the Bedouin village of Assalah is the northern half, with the business and administrative center of Dahab to the south. Dahab is the Arabic word for gold, and it is almost certain that this locale in eastern Sinai derived its name from the fine yellow sand that colors its beaches. The combination of golden sand, turquoise sea and a luxuriant strip of palm trees is pulling in the world. Within just a few miles of Dahab are some great adventure spots. Excellent dive sites lie both to the north and south, including the famous Blue Hole, one of Sinai's best. As the Sun goes down you will find many bars, restaurants and bazaars along the beach or span into Masbat which is an exotic blend of Bedouins, Egyptians and Tourists. You can also join a trip out into the desert at night to a Bedouin Village for a meal and some stargazing.

ActivitiesThe Red Sea coastline is filled with a wide range of water sports that are suitable for any age. If you are a novice, we offer beginners classes in most water activities. You can learn how to dive, water-ski or windsurf - to name a few. If you are interested in seeing the desert you can choose your mode of transportation: foot, camel, jeep, quad runner or with a Bedouin guide..
Camel Safaris If you want to dive some pristine dive sites and have always fancied riding a camel, then these safaris are for you. As there are no roads to these sites, either boat or camel can only reach them. Have you ever seen a camel wearing SCUBA tanks? Well you will on this trip. The first leg of the journey will be by jeep to rendezvous with the local Bedouins and their beasts. After loading up the gear, we span off along the coast and over the mountains. After a ride of about one hour, we will arrive at the dive sites. Ras Abu Gallum is to the North of Dahab and Gabr-El-Bint is to the South. The diving at either site is exceptional with large Gorgonian sea fans, multitudes of fish life and spectacular corals. There is also a reasonable chance of seeing less common marine life such as Turtles, Eagle Rays and on occasions, sharks! Lunch is cooked and served by the Bedouins between dives and you span back in the afternoon after enjoying a wonderful ‘Dahab' experience. Other Activities Riding Quad-bike safaris Kite and windsurfing For these activities, please contact us for further information. |

Just to the North of ‘The Blue Hole', is the dramatic ‘Bells' dive site. Making a giant stride entry from the shore, you drop straight into its mouth, and then you begin your descent through a groove in the reef table.
Dropping straight down you may hear other divers knocking against the rock walls; this clanging noise is apparently why this site is called ‘The Bells'. Further down you come to a small archway, which leads you out onto the reef wall at 28 meters. The wall here continues down to around 800 meters! You arrive at ‘The Blue Hole' over a saddle at around seven meters. |
Here you will see some wonderful and colourful coral. Swimming around ‘The Blue Hole', we do a safety stop and exit the water.

Boat SafarisAs well as our extensive range of courses and guided dive packages, we are also able to offer you some unique and exciting boat safaris. Whether you're here for a few days, a week or even longer there are opportunities for a wide variety of diving expeditions around the Sinai region. All trips include transfer from Dahab to Sharm to catch the boat, then from a brief one hour journey to our closest sites, to four hours or so to the less dived and pristine sites along the Gulf of Suez. These safaris include amazing wreck dives, including penetration of many of the vessels, beautiful reef dives, potential technical dives (for those more experienced divers) and the opportunity to see an abundance of marine life, including the ‘bigger things' such as sharks, rays, turtles, giant morays and dolphins. All of our trips are full board, so transfers, dive gear, tanks, weights, food, drinks, snacks and an excellent crew are all provided as part of the service.

Freediving DahabFreediving is becoming more and more popular. So, what’s so fascinating about this sport? Is it about how deep you can go, pushing your own limits to the extreme, the physical challenge, or the beauty of the underwater world? It’s probably a combination of all of the above, as well as the amazing feeling of being completely relaxed underwater. When you reach that state you’re just a little bit closer to understand the world of the dolphins. It’s far more than just snorkelling. It’s the ability to remain underwater for a long period of time and to dive to depths that someone without training would only be able to do with equipment. As you develop your freediving skills, you’ll find that you get more satisfaction when exploring the underwater world. And it will increase your safety and relaxation when scuba diving too.
Dahab is the place to learn freediving. Here you find the deep waters strait of shore, no boats needed. Since our instructors Lotta Ericson and Linda Paganelli are living in Dahab since a few years it has allowed them to dive daily and to train frequently with many other top freedivers. Both Lotta and Linda are national record holders in several freediving disciplines.
Lotta who is a world famous Swedish freediver, and former world record holder, started working as a freediving instructor in 2004, when she moved to Dahab with her family. Since then she teaches AIDA courses, organizes record attempts, competitions and other freediving events. Linda is an Italian freediver who lives in Dahab since 2002, training and teaching freediving. She started working with Lotta in early 2006 when she also becomes a AIDA instructor. They are now both AIDA MASTER INSTRUCTORS and AIDA JUDGES. AIDA is the International association for the development of Apnea - is a Worldwide Federation for freediving, established in 1992. It manages and oversees the recognition of records, organizes competitions, and sets the standards for freediving education. AIDA certifies freedivers, instructors and judges. |
