As a 5 star PADI Instructor Development Centre we are able to provide a full range of courses to get you started in the diving industry.


Instructor
The four and a half day Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) Program is open to PADI Assistant Instructors and to Instructors from other recreational diver training agencies who wish to cross over. Successful completion of the OWSI Program will allow you to attend a PADI Instructor Exam (IE) and successful completion of the IE will result in certification as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.

Course Prerequisites

  • To enrol on the OWSI you must:
  • Be certified as a PADI Assistant Instructor or as a current instructor member in good standing with another recreational diver training organisation for at least six months
  • Submit a medical, conducted within the last 12 months, which states you are fit for diving (the medical must also be valid for the IE)
  • Have been certified for at least 6 months as a diver with a minimum of 60 dives (100 dives are required to attend the IE)
  • Submit proof of CPR and First Aid training within the last 24 months
  • Submit documentation of certification from entry level to leadership level
  • If not a PADI Divemaster, successfully complete the PADI Divemaster course diver rescue skills assessment
  • “Independent Learning Prerequisite”
  • Prior to the start of the OWSI program all 16 IDC Knowledge Reviews must be completed.

Equipment Requirements

  • You will need full dive equipment suitable for pool and open water sessions.
  • “Performance Requirements”
  • To successfully complete the OWSI Program you must:
  • Attend and participate in all 14 presentations (15 presentations for instructors from other recreational diver training organisations)
  • Present at least 2 knowledge development presentations and score a 3.5 or higher
  • Present at least 2 confined water presentations and score 3.4 or higher
  • Present at least 1 integrated open water presentations (two skills within each) and score 3.5 on both skills
  • Demonstrate all 20 dive skills, scoring a minimum of 68 points, with no skill below a 3
  • Perform a face-down, non-stop swim for 800 metres/yards using a mask snorkel and fins
  • Score 75 percent or higher on all five sections of the Instructor Preassessment Exam

PADI Divemaster Course

 

PADI Divemaster Course

 

 

Divemaster training is the first leadership level in the PADI system. The goals of PADI Divemaster training are to: Enable you to organise, conduct and supervise recreational diving activities - both land and boat based. Enable you to act as an instructional assistant to a PADI Instructor.  Develop theory knowledge sufficient to become an instructor.  Prepare candidates for instructor level training.

Prerequisites

  • Be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and a Rescue Diver OR equivalents.
  • Have training in CPR/First Aid within the past 24 months.
  • Be at least 18 years.
  • Submit a diving medical conducted within the past year.
  • Have 20 logged dives.

Course Modules

  • Complete Divemaster Exams 1-8, covering subjects such as Physics, Physiology, Decompression theory and others.
  • Formulate an Emergency Assistance Plan
  • Complete 4 Waterskills and Stamina exercises including a 400m swim, 15 minute tread water and others.
  • Learn and perform demonstration quality skills such as mask clearing, reg recovery and others.
  • Map a dive site.
  • Complete an internship.  This includes assisting an Instructor on a minimum of 5 pool sessions.  These could be Discover Scuba Divers, Open Water Course divers or another PADI course.  Assisting an Instructor with a minimum of 5 Open Water sections.

Cost

The cost of the course is £580.00 and includes your professional Crewpack with Divemaster Manual, Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving, Divemaster Programs, NEW PADI Instructor Manual for 2010, and more. (Please note that the application fee to PADI is not included.  The fee to PADI is £73.10 with a £27.60 fee to become a Discover Scuba Diving Leader)

 

PADI Assistant Instructor

PADI Assistant Instructor

The PADI Assistant Instructor Course builds upon your leadership skills and focuses on developing your abilities as a dive educator. The course is an ideal way to prepare for the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) and Instructor Exam (IE).

Prerequisites

  • Be certified as a PADI Divemaster or leadership level with another recreational diver training organisation.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Submit a medical statement for a diving medical examination, which states you are fit for diving, conducted within the past 12 months.
  • Have completed and logged at least 60 dives.
  • Successfully complete a knowledge and skill preassessment.
  • CPR and First Aid Training within the last 24 months.

Course Requirements

  • Complete all independent learning sections online through PADI eLearning.  Subject include General Standards and Procedures, Risk Management, Teaching PADI Specialty Diver Courses and others.
  • Knowledge Development Teaching Presentation 1 and 2
  • 4 Es Counseling Workshop 1
  • Teaching in Confined Water
  • Skills Demonstrations Workshop
  • Confined Water Teaching Presentation 1 and 2
  • Conducting Open Water Dives
  • Open Water Teaching Presentation 1
  • Rescue Exercise Workshop
  • Present two knowledge development teaching presentations, scoring a minimum of 3.5 on at least one.
  • Present two confined water teaching presentations, scoring a minimum of 3.4 on at least one.
  • Present one integrated (two skills) open water teaching presentation, scoring a minimum of 3.4 on each skill.
  • Perform all 20 dive skills in the Skill Evaluation, scoring a minimum of 68 total points, with no individual score below 3.
  • Score 75 percent on the PADI Systems, Standards and Procedures Exam

Cost

The cost of the PADI Assistant Instructor Course is £300.  This doesnt include the PADI Instructor Crewpack - £350.  Also there is a £200 fee paid directly to PADI for the eLearning part of the program.
